At our January Meeting, we rolled out the Guild’s Exchange for the year. 2019 will be the year of the Improv Triangle and we’re really excited to see what our members come up with! Like our past exchanges, we do have some guidelines in place for consistency… but the rest is up to everyone’s personal taste and preference!
THE TIME FRAME
Our exchange will run for five months, with the first swap in February 2019, and the last in June 2019. Everyone should be ready to reveal their finish in October.
Bring SIX 60-degree triangles to exchange each month, each measuring 8.5 inches (for a finished size of 8 inches).
You may use a triangle ruler, or the paper template to size your triangles correctly. (PDF template can be found HERE.)
You MUST use Kona “Nautical Blue” for consistency… but other colors are up to you. You may NOT use batiks or prints… but you can use blenders.
There are no mandatory tools required for this exchange, but Creative Grids does have a 8.5” 60 degree equilateral triangle ruler. If you need some inspiration, we recommend the book “Modern Triangle Quilts” by Rebecca Bryan.
Try a log cabin block, slash and insert, or piecing together smaller 60 degree triangles. Strip piece several colors and cut triangles from the strip. Sew scraps into improv “made fabric” and incorporate it into the design. The ideas are endless!
